Asana Keyboard Shortcuts

Complete Asana keyboard shortcuts and commands reference — 61 shortcuts across 7 categories. Quick reference cheat sheet for Windows & Mac.

Asana's shortcuts are unusual in one way: instead of a modifier key, they use Tab followed by a letter — press Tab, release, then the letter — so they never collide with browser bindings. Once that is clear, the set is small and consistent. The table lists the task-management sequences; Tab + ? in the app shows the full list.

How the Tab sequences work

Press Tab + Q — Tab, then Q — and a quick-add box appears for a new task from anywhere in Asana. The same shape applies to every row in the table: Tab + Enter opens the highlighted task, Tab + / jumps to search. If a sequence does nothing, focus is probably in a text field; press Esc first. On the task detail pane the sequences act on the open task, and in a list they act on the highlighted row.

Working a task

Tab + A assigns the task to you, Tab + D opens the due date picker, Tab + C jumps to the comment box and Tab + H marks the task complete (Tab + H again reopens it). The J and K keys move the highlight through a list as in Gmail, so a review pass over a project is J, then Tab + a letter, repeated. Multi-select with Shift + click or Ctrl + click applies the sequence to every selected task.

Everything else

Creating projects, changing sections and opening the timeline are menu or mouse actions, and the Asana desktop app follows the same keys as the browser. Because the sequences start with Tab, they work on Windows, macOS and Linux without translation.
