Privacy policy
Effective . This page lists what the site collects, which outside services its pages load, and what is kept in your browser.
What this site collects
You can use every page without an account. The site does not ask for your name, and it does not sell or rent data about visitors. The points below are everything that is collected or stored.
Requests to the site
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. For each page request the server records the page path, the response status, the country and network (ISP) that Cloudflare reports for the request, and a coarse browser category. This is used to count visits and to tell automated traffic from people. It contains no cookie and no account identifier, and IP addresses are not stored in these records.
Analytics
Pages load two analytics services, both of which set cookies:
- Google Analytics 4 records page views, approximate location, device and browser details, and how visitors arrive. Google describes its handling at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and offers an opt-out browser add-on.
- Microsoft Clarity records how pages are used: clicks, scrolling and mouse movement, which can be replayed as a session recording, together with device and browser details. Microsoft describes this in its privacy statement.
Advertising
Pages load Google AdSense, and the site may show ads served by Google. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a visitor's earlier visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on those visits. You can turn off personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings, and opt out of some other vendors' personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices.
What is stored in your browser
The site keeps a few settings in your browser's local storage so that they survive a reload: the light or dark theme, the column choice on pages with Windows and Mac keys, your My Stack selection, a marker that you have already seen the mailing-list prompt, and, if you play the practice game, your best score for each tool and level and a copy of each round you submit to the leaderboard (shown in the leaderboard's local view). These values stay on your device and are not sent to the site; the game results that are sent are described in the next section. Clearing your browser data removes them.
Practice game and leaderboard
Playing Shortcut Speedrun sends the result of a round (score, accuracy, reaction time, the keys you missed, and the tool and difficulty played) so that aggregate statistics can be kept. No name is attached unless you choose to submit a nickname to the leaderboard; nicknames and scores on the leaderboard are public.
Mailing list (optional)
When you download a PDF cheat sheet you may leave an email address to hear about new pages. It is never required; downloads work without it. If you subscribe, the site stores your email address, the page you subscribed from and the date. The list is not shared or sold. To be removed, write to [email protected] and the address is deleted.
Your choices
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the reference pages work without them. To have a leaderboard nickname or a mailing-list address removed, or to ask what is held about you, write to [email protected].
Changes
This policy took effect on and replaces the version of 1 January 2026. It was rewritten to list Microsoft Clarity, server request records and browser storage, which the earlier version did not describe. On the list of what is stored in your browser was completed with the practice game's best scores and leaderboard copies. Later changes will be noted here with their date.
