About Shortcut Tools
Shortcut Tools is a free reference for keyboard shortcuts and command-line commands. It lists 43,584 rows for 260 tools on 238 pages, and each page names the vendor documentation it was taken from, where a source is recorded.
What the site is for
Vendor documentation for shortcuts is scattered, laid out differently by every vendor, and often split across dozens of help pages. This site puts each tool's documented default bindings or commands on one page, in one layout, with a filter, a Windows and Mac column where the vendor documents both, and a link back to the source.
What it covers
The pages are grouped into 15 categories: Productivity, CAD/Design, Video, Development, AI Tools, Design, Music, 3D/Game, OS, DevOps/CLI, Communication, Browser, Media, Infrastructure, Automation. The index lists every page. Besides the reference pages there is a reference of AI tool commands and prompt parameters, a printable cheat sheet builder, My Stack for a combined sheet of several tools, a practice game and a JSON API.
Who maintains this site
Jay is the editor and sole maintainer of shortcut-tools.com. He has spent his career on the practical side of software: developer tooling, GPU and datacenter command-line utilities, and the design and office applications that sit next to them. He started this site because the shortcut lists he kept finding were incomplete or quietly wrong.
He writes under his first name only. There is no editorial team, no sponsored placement and no vendor relationship behind any page. He compares the pages with the vendor's documentation before they are published, decides what goes live and answers corrections; the method is described on How we verify.
How the content is checked
Rows are taken from vendor documentation and compared with it by hand before publication. All 260 tools have also been rebuilt with a stored source line for every row and show the date of that check. How we verify describes the process and its limits, and the update log lists what changed and when.
Cost, accounts and advertising
The site is free to use, with no registration and no paywall. It uses analytics and may show advertising; the privacy policy lists the services involved.
