Running SQL
Ctrl + Enter opens the most recent script for the active connection, and once you are in an editor the main keys are Ctrl + Alt + Enter for a new SQL console (no file created), Alt + X to execute the whole script, and Ctrl + Shift + E to show the execution plan for the statement under the cursor. Ctrl + Shift + F formats SQL, Ctrl + Space completes table and column names, and Ctrl + Alt + Shift + C runs a row count for the query under the cursor without fetching the rows. Ctrl + 0 and Ctrl + 9 switch the active schema and connection for the editor, which is the first thing to check when a query hits the wrong database.
Editing results in the grid
Result sets are editable in place: Enter edits a cell inline, Shift + Enter opens the value in a dialog for long text, Alt + Insert adds a row, Alt + Delete deletes one and Ctrl + D copies the value from the row above. Nothing is written until Ctrl + S applies the changes; Ctrl + R rejects them. If auto-commit is off, Ctrl + Alt + Shift + K commits the session and Ctrl + Alt + Shift + R rolls it back. Ctrl + Shift + = fetches all rows past the default page size and Ctrl + Alt + N the next page.
Reading data
Tab toggles between grid and record view for a single row, Alt + Space follows a foreign key to the referenced row, and Ctrl + Shift + 1 lists the tables referencing the current one. Ctrl + F11 filters by the values in the selected column and Ctrl + 2 cycles the sort order. The Eclipse layer supplies the rest: Ctrl + 3 finds any action by name and Ctrl + Shift + L lists every binding available in the current context.
Frequently asked questions
Why are my grid edits not saved?
Grid changes are pending until Ctrl + S applies them. If the connection is not in auto-commit mode, also commit with Ctrl + Alt + Shift + K.
How do I run only the statement under the cursor?
Ctrl + Enter executes the current statement in the SQL editor; Alt + X runs the whole script.
How do I see all rows instead of the first 200?
Ctrl + Shift + = fetches all rows for the current result set; Ctrl + Alt + N fetches the next page.
