Safari Keyboard Shortcuts & Commands (40)
Complete collection of 40 Safari keyboard shortcuts and commands. Browse all shortcuts organized by category with our interactive search tool.
Safari is macOS-only, so every binding here uses Cmd, and most of them match Chrome and Firefox once Cmd is swapped for Ctrl. The differences worth knowing are reopen-tab and hard refresh, which Safari assigns differently from the other browsers, and the way tab switching is bound. The table keeps to the everyday set from Apple's user guide.

Tabs
Cmd + T opens a tab and Cmd + W closes it. Reopening a closed tab is Cmd + Z — undo — rather than the Cmd + Shift + T that Chrome users reach for, and it works only immediately after closing; the History menu holds older ones. Ctrl + Tab moves to the next tab (Ctrl, not Cmd, because Cmd + Tab switches apps), and Cmd + 1 through 9 jump to a tab position. Cmd + N opens a window and Cmd + Shift + N a private one.
Address bar, find and reload
Cmd + L puts the cursor in the address bar over the selected URL, and whatever you type searches or navigates. Cmd + F finds on the page and Cmd + D bookmarks it. Cmd + R reloads; Cmd + Option + R reloads with the cache bypassed — the one binding developers look up most, because it cures stale stylesheets. Cmd + Y opens history as a full page.
Preferences and the develop menu
Cmd + , opens Settings, where the Advanced tab has the checkbox that adds the Develop menu — Web Inspector, responsive design mode and user-agent switching are behind it, and Cmd + Option + I opens the inspector once it is on. Reader view, reading list and tab groups are on toolbar buttons and the View menu rather than default keys.
