Playback

Space plays and pauses when the Spotify window has focus, and M mutes. Down and Up go to the next and previous track, Right adds the current song to the queue and Left adds it to your library. Ctrl + S toggles shuffle and Ctrl + R repeat, cycling through repeat-all and repeat-one; Spotify lists Alt + S and Alt + R for the same two actions on Mac. Because all of these only work while the app has focus, the media keys on the keyboard remain the better choice when Spotify is running in the background.

Getting around

Ctrl + K opens search from anywhere and Ctrl + L moves focus to the search field; Ctrl + F filters whatever list is open by name. The rest of navigation is a family of Alt + Shift keys: Alt + Shift + H for Home, Alt + Shift + 0 for your library, Alt + Shift + 1 to Alt + Shift + 5 for playlists, podcasts, artists, albums and audiobooks, Alt + Shift + Q for the queue and Alt + Shift + J for Now Playing. Alt + Shift + L and Alt + Shift + R collapse or expand the two sidebars, and Alt + J opens the context menu of the selected item without the mouse.

What is documented and what is not

Spotify publishes one support article for the desktop app and updates it as the client changes, so this table follows that article rather than older community lists: creating a playlist, going back and forward between views, and seeking within a track do not appear on it and are left out here. Spotify writes the Windows key first and the Mac key in brackets; the table keeps the same order, so a Mac user reads the last column, where Alt or Cmd replaces the Windows modifier where Spotify says it does.
