Transport and recording

Space starts and stops playback from the playhead, and R begins recording on the record-enabled tracks. Cycle mode, punch and count-in change what R does, so check the transport bar before a take. Cmd + Z undoes; Logic keeps a long undo history and lists it under Edit › Undo History for jumping back several steps.

Regions

Cmd + T splits the selected regions at the playhead — the most-pressed editing key — and Cmd + J joins the selected regions into one, which for audio creates a new merged file. Cmd + D duplicates a region (or, in the mixer, a channel strip). Combined with the marquee tool for range selection, these three do most arrangement editing without the scissors or glue tools.

Panels

X toggles the Mixer at the bottom of the window and Y the Library on the left, where patches and channel-strip settings live. Both are worth learning because the Logic window is crowded on a laptop and hiding panels is the only way to see the arrangement.
